Pathfinders with Little Planets is a homeschool enrichment group for children 5-7 year old. We'll meet on Wednesdays from 9a-1p and spend our day playing, exploring, and learning in nature. Located on a beautiful property less than 15 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, we will invite children to engage in a gentle daily rhythm, explore the woods, fields, and streams, and experience a blend of child-directed, play-based learning and facilitated activities.
Location: 3029 Scottsville Rd Charlottesville, VA 22902
Julie & Ewa
My name is Julie and I’m a mom of 3. I’ve been a teacher of some sort since 1997 where I began as a school age teachers assistant at a summer camp in New Hampshire where I am from. Since then I’ve been a pre k teacher, nanny, gymnastics coach, post partum Doula, children’s fitness teacher, K/1 teacher and owned Natural Beginnings preschool for 10 years. My philosophy has always been that children need to be allowed to learn how best suits them as an individual and my role is to guide them. I have chosen to home school my youngest because I’ve seen how public school has taken the joy and spirit out of so many children. This year Brinley and I will learn through reading, exploring, questioning, and playing together while working on friendships, community volunteering, and farm work.
My name is Ewa and many of you know me through Little Planets and Tinkergarten. I've always loved working with children. I earned by B.A. in Psychology from the College of William and Mary & my M.A. in Integral Counseling at The California Institute of Integral Studies. I've worked as a Marriage, Family, and Child Therapist, a Therapeutic Playroom Coordinator, and a teacher. I believe time for play and a relationship with nature are two of the greatest gifts we can give our children. This year I am continuing to homeschool my 6 yo son using a combination of Waldorf and nature-based curriculums. I love art, crafting, handi-work, gardening, baking, and look forward to creating a special time for our children in this program.
Our time in nature will include hiking, playing in the stream, learning about plants and animals, shelter building, fire making, and so much more. Register by the day or for the 12 week session. Tuition includes lunches which we will prepare and cook as part of our curriculum. Questions? Email us or call us at 703-209-4717
