"The heart of childhood is Play." - Sharifa Oppenheimer, Heaven on Earth: A Handbook for Parents of Young Children ![]() If you visit the Charlottesville Waldorf School (CWS), you’ll find a 13-acre retreat in the heart of the city - an enchanting place where children are encouraged to foster their creativity and nurture their individuality. A core belief of CWS, and of a Waldorf Education in general, is that “true learning is a process of discovery that engages the whole human being.” Children are often outside, exploring their environment, interacting with the natural world, or engaging in a lesson through play, art, music, and movement. Learning is a dynamic and integrative process. Learning happens through play, in its various amazing forms. CWS classes span from Early Childhood programs, such as the Parent-Child classes, to upper middle school. The CWS approach to children, as well as the general atmosphere of the campus, is one of warmth and kindness. The classrooms are welcoming with a comforting sense of homey familiarity and aesthetic design. Chalkboards display lesson plans and changing works of art. Toys are open-ended, often hand-made, and intentional. There is a feeling of harmony, an appreciation of intuitive daily rhythms. ![]() Many of these same ideas and beliefs cultivated the concept of Little Planets where we organize children’s playspaces at events and festivals. We believe a play area, to whatever degree possible at a given location, should inspire creativity, imagination, connectedness, and joy. At our Little Planets, we want children to be invited into an environment that is fun, designed with an artistic sense of beauty, that fosters a diverse, rich, and age-appropriate sensory experience. When Little Planets signed on with the Tom Tom Founders Festival for the Fall Block Party, CWS was a natural match as a sponsor. Like CWS, the Tom Tom Founders Festival is deeply rooted in the appreciation and support of creativity, inspiration, and artistic expression. Our children deserve that experience as much as we do! The Charlottesville Waldorf School Little Planet at the TTFF Fall Block Party will include:
We will also be giving away an adorable Jellycat plush monkey and $20 gift certificate generously donated by Charlottesville’s own Shenanigans Toys as well as an awesome bear-themed giftset courtesy of Barefoot Books & Elizabeth Hale. The Tom Tom Founders Festival Fall Block Party will be held at IX Art Park in Charlottesville on Friday, September 25th from 5p -11pm and Saturday, September 26th, from noon to 7pm. Bring the kids & come play with us! #Families #Festivals #Kids #Playareas #Waldorf #Nature #Babies #Fun

A little planet of the schools has been coming down for the success and benefits of the students. Now it has been instilled with the help of the professors of the schools. This has been challenged on all parts for the people for the acquisition of the knowledge.
