Benefits of Essential Oils: Essential oils have been in use for thousands of years. The first and primary benefit of essential oil is its capacity to produce a healing effect to both the mind and body. It is said that essential oils are more beneficial and effective than the botanical plant from which it is extracted. Proper precaution is a must when choosing the best essential oil for children and families. According to experts Robert Tisserand and Rodney Young, the skin of a newborn and infant are less equipped to the adverse effects of essential oils. The use of essential oils must be avoided for children below six months old. This is due to the fact that they have thinner and more sensitive skin. Did we forget anything? #LittlePlanets #Families #Festivals #MusicFestivals #Kids #Babies #Toddlers #Babycare #Playareas #PackingList #Checklist #WhatToBring #BringTheKids #VAMusicFestivals #LOVEVA
This June, I headed out to Staunton, VA to meet Dr. Andrew Dodge and his lovely wife, Nicole Dodge – together, they own and operate Valley Family Wellness and Chiropractic. When I approached VFWC to sponsor the Little Planets baby & children’s area at the Red Wing Roots Music Festival (coming up July 8-10, 2016), Nicole and I quickly figured out that Little Planets and VFWC have a lot in common. We value sensory-based play, experiential learning, and nurturing children’s natural creativity and imaginations, just to start. It turned out we had even more in common: Andrew, Nicole, and I are all William and Mary alums. Small world!
10 Tips for the Ultimate Family-Friendly Festival Experience Originally posted by Suzy on 6/2/2015 at hipmountainmama.com We love going to music festivals each summer...before kids it was easy and after kids, it's easier than you'd think. Just follow these 10 tips to be sure and have a great family-friendly festival experience.
Before we had children we enjoyed the freedom of hitting the road, exploring new places, meeting kind folk, and seeing live music. There is nothing like leaving responsibilities behind to enter the festival world....where livin is easy, people are happy, the energy is contagious, and good vibes surround you. If you have never been to a music festival, I can tell you it's like nothing else..I often think if real life were like this, maybe there wouldn't be so much hate in the world. Festivals are much like going to a concert, but your connections with other people, mother earth, and all of your surroundings is so much stronger. "The heart of childhood is Play." - Sharifa Oppenheimer, Heaven on Earth: A Handbook for Parents of Young Children ![]() If you visit the Charlottesville Waldorf School (CWS), you’ll find a 13-acre retreat in the heart of the city - an enchanting place where children are encouraged to foster their creativity and nurture their individuality. A core belief of CWS, and of a Waldorf Education in general, is that “true learning is a process of discovery that engages the whole human being.” Children are often outside, exploring their environment, interacting with the natural world, or engaging in a lesson through play, art, music, and movement. Learning is a dynamic and integrative process. Learning happens through play, in its various amazing forms. CWS classes span from Early Childhood programs, such as the Parent-Child classes, to upper middle school. The CWS approach to children, as well as the general atmosphere of the campus, is one of warmth and kindness. The classrooms are welcoming with a comforting sense of homey familiarity and aesthetic design. Chalkboards display lesson plans and changing works of art. Toys are open-ended, often hand-made, and intentional. There is a feeling of harmony, an appreciation of intuitive daily rhythms. We are super excited about bringing 35 food trucks and over 40 non-food vendors to the Potomac Mills "Food Truck Jamboree" on Saturday August 15 from 12 noon to 8pm.
